At West End we want to develop a love of learning through a curriculum that is engaging, broad, balanced and based on the development and application of skills and knowledge.
The curriculum meets the requirements of The National Curriculum, The Early Years Foundation stage and Religious Education as well as providing a wealth of other experiences. It embraces the outcomes of Every Child Matters – supporting enjoyment, being healthy, staying safe, making a positive contribution and promoting economic well-being and embeds the application of ICT across the curriculum to maximise pupils learning and progress.
We try to ensure lessons interest children, stimulate their imagination and develop independence and creativity.
All teaching and learning is supported by a group of well-trained Teaching Assistants and the Learning Mentors.
Children are grouped into three stages:-
Early Years Foundation Stage are children aged 4 – 5 (Reception)
Key Stage 1 are children aged 5 – 7 (Infants)
Key Stage 2 are children aged 8 – 11 (Juniors)
The website also gives information about the curriculum for each year group and each subject, along with related policies.
Extra-curricular clubs and experiences support children’s learning. And don’t forget to access our school Facebook page to get the latest updates on the exciting learning your children are taking part in.
