Music is a foundation subject within the national curriculum. At West End we teach Music using the Charanga Programme from EYFS-Year 6. Our pupils enjoy their music lessons and are familiar with Charanga and how they learn to appreciate music, sing, play instruments and perform.

In the EYFS stage, children will have additional provision to support their learning alongside using Charanga. There is a music station in the outdoor classroom where instruments can be freely accessed and singing is a large part of the curriculum. Children are encouraged to express themselves and the Expressive Arts and Design curriculum area provides opportunities through play for children to learn.

In addition to weekly lessons, we have a KS1 Music club, KS1 Singing Session and during the Autumn 2 Term we have a KS2 Music Performance, KS1 Nativity and Autumn KS1 Singing Assembly. We also follow the Values Education where children learn songs to support their understanding of our value half termly.
