The Phonics Scheme that we use in school is Letters & Sounds produced by the DFE.

Children in EYFS and KS1 have a daily phonics session moving onto a daily spelling session as they go into KS2.

No Nonsense Spelling is an age related spelling program that is used in KS2. Fast Track Phonics is used where necessary to support children not achieving age related
expectations.

We have recently updated all our Reading books throughout school and use a range of books from:

Oxford Reading Tree
Project X
Phonics Bug
Lighthouse
Zoom
Jelly and Bean
along with other independent authors

All children are provided with a book bag and a reading record which we encourage parents to fill in to show they have listened to their child read at home. We expect reading bags to be brought to school every day and children to read regularly at home.

We have recently updated our school library and each class have a timetabled session in which they can access books from the library. We train some of our Year 5 and 6 children to be librarians who run the library at lunch times enabling each class extra library time if they wish to.
