The Rainbow Room is a place of safety where pupils are encouraged to take responsibility for their own actions. To develop their independence and resilience skills we promote choices by listening to them, bringing them together to resolve conflict situations.   The pupils know there has to be a consequence for their own actions to keep everyone safe. They are supported to accept this by ensuring all pupils are treated the same and the same rules apply to everyone.

Something we do lots of in the rainbow room is to identify the emotions we are feeling and how to regulate ourselves. We do this by using the zones of regulation.

This is Miss Jones. She is the Behaviour and Lego Therapy Practitioner here at West End and supports children each day in the Rainbow Room.

Lego therapy is a great tool to help build resilience, behaviours for learning, teamwork and how to build friendships.

Here at Westend we believe all children should have the skills to make better choices and enjoy their school day. That is why fun and engaging interventions are ran throughout the day from the rainbow room. These include social stories, circle time and Lego danger island.
